It seems for forever that we have dreamed of perfect weather on our wedding day. Sunshine, colourful dresses, dapper suits and delicious cocktails. Amen.
However … if the last three years have taught us anything, it is that:
a) our weather is all over the place
b) getting married with all your loved ones present is a privilege
c) we can have a wedding on any day of the week, any time of the year and make it incredible!
Fashion need not be compromised for a winter wedding either. People donning a divine suits will not melt, layers and long sleeves can be just as stunning and elegant as bare skin. And to be fair those layers will likely come off once you hit the dance floor.

Also worthy of note is that more people are available over winter than in Summer and over the Christmas/New Years breaks. This goes for your favourite suppliers and your guests too.
When Planning a winter wedding it isn’t just fashion that needs to be considered (as important as this is), venue and or location are paramount and the wet weather plan needs to be an option you love as it is likely you will need it. Creating a journey for your guests from ceremony to pre reception and then reception is still doable in a lot of cases even when in one location and this is so lovely from a guest perspective. Timings on a wedding day are brought forward to allow for maximum use of the daylight. If you are wanting to stick with the typical 4.00pm ceremony then consider doing pre wedding portraits.

Shelter and warmth are guest considerations and so easy to manage with a heater, some throws on chairs a cosy and faced paced dance-floor and some strategically timed party shots!
If your guests are trekking across lawn/paddocks consider advising your guests to wear wedges or block heels rather than stilettos. a) you don’t want your gal pals to ruin their heels or have dirty feet all night!

At the entrance to your reception consider a coat rack for everyone to pop their coats or jackets rather than them hanging on the backs of chairs and ending up on the floor.
There is so much fun to be had with a winter menu, a shared winter feast can be so fun and create such an interactive experience for guests. Sprinkle some beautiful red wine a long the table and your guests will be in winter heaven.
